Starting School in September 2024

We are delighted to invite prospective parents into school, to have a look around so you can see for yourselves, what makes Godinton so special.

When parents visit schools, with a view to looking at where they can see their child flourishing and being happy, they often get a special feel for the one that seems right for them as a family. We hope your visit will give you a sense of what life at Godinton is like, the things that are important to us and the ways in which we support our children to find their talents, develop their interests, be kind and thoughtful individuals and to achieve their full potential academically.

To help you in your quest to find the right school for your child, we are holding an information evening for prospective parents on Monday 6th November 2023. This is an informal opportunity to drop in anytime between 5.30 and 7.00 pm to meet our staff and have a good look around our Reception classrooms. We also offer parents the opportunity to have a small group tour of the school led by our Headteacher or one of our Assistant Headteachers on various dates throughout November. These tours are a chance to view a typical day at school, to find out more about our school - our ethos and our values and to ask any questions you might have. Details of the information evening and the tours can be found in the document below. To book a place on one of the tours, please contact the school office on 01233 621616.

To give you a sense of the school experiences that our Reception children enjoy, have a look at the  video  below, made by our Reception staff,  showing 'a day in the life of our Reception Children.'  We have also put together a presentation which will show you the facilities that we have at Godinton, what our classrooms look like and the beautiful grounds we are so fortunate to have. This can also be found below.

We wish you all well in your search for the right school for your child. We hope that whichever school gives you that special feeling, it will provide your child with an exciting and enriching experience.

If you have any questions about the school, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Admissions Consultation for admissions to the school in 2025-2026

As our own admissions authority, Godinton Primary School is required, under the School Admissions Code 2021, to review our admissions policies annually and to consult on our arrangements from time to time. The code requires consultation in the following circumstances:

  1. When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements (including any supplementary information form) that will apply for admission applications the following school year.
  2. Where the admission arrangements have not changed from the previous year there is no requirement to consult, subject to the requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.

There are no proposed changes to our admission arrangements at this time. However as our arrangements have not undergone consultation within the past 7 years, despite there being no changes during this time – the arrangements are being put forward for public consultation under the criteria in point 2 of the Admissions Code, outlined above.

A copy of the admissions arrangements for 2025-2026, can be found below.

If you wish to comment on the policy please email or write to:

Miss Jill Talbot (Headteacher)

headteacher@godinton.kent.sch.uk or Godinton Primary School, Lockholt Close, Ashford, Kent TN23 3JR

This consultation will open on Monday 27th November 2023 and any comments relating to the policy will need to be received by Monday 8th January 2024.

The Governing Body will meet soon after the closure of the admissions consultation to consider any comments. If no comments are received the policy will be recommended for determination at the next meeting of the Governing Body in February 2024.
