Friday 10th July 2015 – Photography Congratulations
For several years now, Mrs Paggett has run a very successful photography club for Year 6. This year our keen photographers entered a countywide competition in which they were asked to submit photos of each season for a calendar. We were delighted that Emily Morton gained first place in the spring category for her picture of spring blossom and Emily White was awarded second prize for her photo of a bee. Eve Stewart was a runner up with her daffodil photo.

Wednesday 10th June 2015 – Carnival Day!
Today the spirit of carnival came to Godinton as each year group explored the traditions associated with different carnival celebrations around the world. The morning was spent preparing games, banners and costumes using different materials. Some classes even prepared food from their chosen country.
Year 2 had already prepared some of their costumes when they worked with artist Hannah Rushforth. They made fantastic tabards and headresses which reflected Venetian carnivals. Hannah has worked for the arts organisation, Strange Cargo, who produce fabulous costumes for the Charivari Carnival held each year in Folkestone.
In the afternoon each year group ran a different carnival stall or activity; there were musical instruments to play, dances to learn and games to enjoy.
The afternoon ended with a procession in which each class showcased the costumes they had made. It was also an opportunity to show the costumes and fish lanterns made during the Highworth arts project.
Friday 22nd May 2015 – Getting Creative in Poland
8 of our Year 5 and 6 pupils returned to Ashford after spending a week in the Polish town of Tychy. The children have taken part in the Erasmus Plus Programme which offers pupils the opportunity to explore other cultures. Whilst they were aware the children were able to join in with art and music lessons, performed on stage as part of a choir and recited poetry and explored places of cultural interest such as local museums. In November some more children will have the chance to engage in the project when they travel to Belgium.
